Job summary

The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is seeking a full‑time open rank oculoplastic/orbital surgeon for the Ophthalmology Department. Appointment is fixed term; academic rank and salary negotiable based on experience. This 40‑hour‑per‑week faculty position is located in North Carolina and will report to the Department Chair.

Start date anticipated 10/01/2026. MD or equivalent is required; prior ophthalmic surgical experience and a strong teaching record are preferred.

Position Summary

The Department of Ophthalmology at UNC -Chapel Hill is seeking a full‑time open rank oculoplastic/orbital surgeon. Appointment is fixed‑term. Academic rank and salary are negotiable based on experience and qualifications.

This position will report directly to the new Chair of the Department of Ophthalmology, Dr. Benjamin Frankfort.

Minimum Education And Experience Requirements

MD or equivalent required.

Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, And Experience

Excellent clinical & surgical skills, ophthalmic ultrasound experience, strong commitment to teaching, and demonstrated ongoing interest in clinical and/or basic science research.

Special Physical/Mental Requirements

On‑call occasionally; Involves patient care.
