Job summary

CSL is seeking a donor suitability evaluator to work in a plasma donation setting. Under general supervision, you will assess donors for automated pheresis, interview donors and review medical histories to determine suitability.

You will provide limited emergency medical care and coordinate with the Center Medical Director on donor questions, review test results, and counsel donors on reactive findings. Prior healthcare experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Graduation from a paramedic, nursing, physician assistant, chiropractic, medical school or naturopathic medical training program.
• If graduation is from a foreign allopathic or osteopathic medical school, must also be licensed as a physician or state EMT certification.
• For NY: current state licensure or certification as an RN, MD or DO or in reciprocal state.
• Minimum of one year relevant experience in a health care environment.
• Experience in a plasma or whole blood collection center or other regulated environment preferred.
• Ability to assess heart, lung sounds and signs of drug use during physical evaluation.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate donor suitability for automated pheresis under supervision.
• Provide limited emergency medical care to donors and staff per licensure.
• Interview donors and perform medical history reviews to determine suitability.
• Collaborate with Center Medical Director on donor questions and suitability.
• Review test results and assess donor symptoms affecting donation ability.
• Notifies and counsels donors regarding reactive test results and referrals for follow-up.
• Provide routine care following SOPs; escalate critical situations to physicians as required.
