Job summary

BioLife Plasma Services in Largo, FL is seeking a Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) to support plasma center operations. You will determine donor eligibility, oversee adverse events, review lab results, and notify donors of unsuitable tests under medical guidance.

You will work under the Center Manager and Center Physician, ensuring compliance with FDA training, IV therapy standards, and EHS requirements, while supporting vaccination programs and incident investigations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent, plus nursing program certification per state requirements.
• Currently licensed or certified as LPN or LVN in the responsible state.
• CPR and AED certification.
• Meet state IV therapy requirements.
• Complete the FDA approved BioLife training.
• Minimum two years in a clinical or hospital setting.

Responsibilities

• Determine donor eligibility, including informed consent, AIDS education, confidential self-exclusion, medical history interview and acceptance requirements, physical exam, blood testing, and SPE review.
• Evaluate donor reactions and manage medical emergencies per SOPs, including center physician standing orders and donor transport to care facilities.
• Refer to Center Physician or Medical Affairs for guidance on medical or technical issues, including donor safety and eligibility.
• Support employee vaccination programs (Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu) as applicable.
• Manage employee incidents and determine if evaluation by occupational health/ER is required, following EHS guidance.
• Possibly serve as Pandemic Coordinator as authorized by EHS and assist investigations.
