Required Qualifications: Per Civil Service Standards and Specifications. Must have passed the Plant Utilities Engineer 2 State Civil Service exam and be reachable on the current Civil Service list. Transfers within 70.1 are encouraged; candidates must have served permanently in an appropriate title for one year and be appointed from a Civil Service List. Provisional appointments may be made if there are insufficient acceptors on the list, but provisional appointees must pass the next Civil Service exam to be permanently appointed. Must be able to climb, bend, stoop, lift moderately heavy objects, work in confined spaces, and from ladders, scaffolding, or lifts over ten feet. Valid NYS Driver's License required, with a clean motor vehicle record. Must pass a pulmonary function test to wear protective equipment. Responsible for emergency response.
Preferred Qualifications: High School Diploma/GED; Technical School.
Brief Description of Duties: Supervises Plant Utilities Engineers I and others in operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, testing, and calibration of mechanical and electrical systems. Performs tasks adhering to departmental policies and procedures, following directions from senior staff, working well with peers and subordinates, and possessing strong computer and communication skills.
Special Notes: Full-time, 40 hours/week, Monday-Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., FLSA Nonexempt with overtime eligibility. Internal and external candidates considered simultaneously. Preference for rehire roster candidates. Salary: $63,136 plus $4,000 location pay. Must pass a background check. Include resume/CV and cover letter in application. No visa sponsorship available. This is an essential position required to report during campus emergencies.
Out-of-State Applicants: Must provide a valid license and driving record from their state within five days of conditional offer and obtain a NYS driver’s license within 30 days of employment.
