Job summary

Vistra Corp is seeking an entry-level Plant Operator at our Graham, Texas location. The role involves operating plant systems within specifications and environmental regulations under the supervision of experienced technicians.

You will read meters, log data, perform basic maintenance tasks, and participate in safety programs to ensure reliable and safe plant operation. THE role requires the POSS/MASS program qualification and basic computer skills.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 0-2 years related experience preferred.
• Candidate must be able to understand physics of electrical circuits and hazards.
• Basic computer skills and data recording experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Read meters and record data at intervals.
• Report malfunctions to senior operator or supervisor.
• Provide mechanical, electrical, and instrument/control support for maintenance.
• Understand operational relationships of equipment to plant systems.
• Troubleshoot, document, and assist in problem resolution.
• Follow safety, health, and environmental procedures (Lockout/Tagout, JSA, Confined Space, Hot Work, PPE).
• Assist with electronic clearance system activities.
• Utilize maintenance software and related computer systems.
• Learn the full plant cycle and operations.

Job Summary

Entry level position responsible for basic operational knowledge of all plant systems and operation of the equipment within specification and environmental regulations working under the direction of experienced Plant Technicians. Responsible for promoting safe, effective, and reliable operation.

Job Description

Key Accountabilities:

• Reads meters and records data at specified intervals in appropriate logs and computers
• Immediately reports malfunctioning equipment of abnormal meter readings/equipment performance to the senior operator or supervisor and completes the appropriate records.
• Provides mechanical, electrical, and/or instrument and control skills for maintaining mechanical equipment.
• Understands the operational relationships of mechanical/electrical equipment to plant systems.
• Performs troubleshooting, documentation, and assists in the resolution of problems discovered during shift.
• Ensures strict adherence to safety, health and environmental procedures as they relate to plant operations and maintenance including but not limited to Lockout Tagout, Job Safety Analysis, Confined Space, Hot Work, Electrical Safety and PPE.
• Assists with activities of clearances in the electronic clearance system.
• Utilizes the Computer Based Maintenance system and several other computer - based software applications systems.
• Gains knowledge of the entire plant cycle and how it functions.

• Demonstrate standard computer- based skills
• Demonstrate effective oral & verbal communication skills
• If applicable, candidate will hold the required level of state license as recognized by the governing body of the particular state (MA, OH)
• If applicable, candidate will have completed On the Job Training and/or formal trade school and is familiar with physics of electrical circuits, electrical principles, and hazards.
• Basic knowledge in the use of electrical hand tools and metering equipment.

POSS / MASS exams are administered on an as-needed basis by Human Resources and and all communication concerning the testing is sent to the candidate’s email address provided during the application process.
