Job summary

Luminant Power LLC in Texas is seeking a Plant Operator to perform operations functions and maintenance to ensure proper functioning of gas plant equipment at the Hays Plant. You will work under site management and promote safe, reliable operation.

Minimum of a high school diploma, 4–6 years in a power plant or industrial setting, and proficiency with pumps, motors, and alignments are required. Shifts may include 4x10, 5x8, and extended hours during outages.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• 4–6 years related experience in power plant or industrial setting.
• Familiar with industrial pumps, motors, bearings.
• Knowledge of motor/pump alignment; welding skills helpful.
• Willing to work 4x10 or 5x8 shifts; outages may require longer days.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily maintenance, overhauls, calibration, troubleshooting and repair of plant equipment.
• Troubleshoot and document issues; assist in on-shift problem resolution.
• Develop and implement plant operating procedures and ensure safety standards.
• Operate material handling equipment and align motors/pumps as needed.
• Comply with safety, health, and environmental procedures including LOTO and PPE.

Job Summary

This position is responsible for performing operations functions, preventive and corrective maintenance as applicable to job function to ensure proper functioning of plant equipment will work under the direction of site management.

This position is responsible for the proper function and maintenance of equipment at a Gas Plant for the Gas fleet. Responsible for promoting safe, effective, and reliable operation.

Key Accountabilities:

• Proficient in primary skill required of position
• Proficient skills for maintaining equipment at the plant
• Performs troubleshooting and documentation, and assists in the resolution of problems discovered on shift
• Performs daily maintenance, overhauls, calibration, troubleshooting, repair/replacement and removal/installation of plant equipment and systems
• Makes decisions and recommends appropriate repair techniques for plant equipment to peers, supervisors, plant management
• Conducts excitation system inspections and preventive maintenance
• Proficient in operating material handling equipment
• Develops and implements plant operating procedures
• Understands relationship of equipment to plant systems
• May provide instruction and teaching to lower level employees
• Ensures strict adherence to safety, health and environmental procedures as they relate to plant operations and maintenance including but not limited to Lockout Tagout, Job Safety Analysis, Confined Space, Hot Work, Electrical Safety and PPE

Level of position will be determined by applicable skills and experience.

Education, Experience, and Skill Requirements:

• Minimum of High School diploma or GED equivalent
• 4 -6 years related experience in a power plant or industrial setting (possibly heavy equipment)
• Familiarity with industrial sized pumps, motors, fans, bearings
• Knowledge of motor alignments and pump alignment, welding knowledge/skills required
• Position requires ability to work four 10-hour days or five 8-hour days; during plant outages 12 hour days or nights required; Call-outs and after-hours support are part of this position
• S atisatisfactory completion of Tier 2 within primary skill for position job performance measure
• Demonstrate computer based skills
• Demonstrate effective oral & verbal communications skills
• I ndependent knowledge of troubleshooting
