Job summary

Luminant Power LLC is seeking a skilled Plant Operator/maintenance-focused professional for the Hays Plant, Texas. This role involves performing operations functions, preventive and corrective maintenance to ensure proper functioning of plant equipment under supervision.

The ideal candidate has 4–6 years in a power plant/industrial setting, understands pumps, motors, and alignment, and can work 4x10 or 5x8 schedules, including outages. Tier 3 training and POSS/MASS eligibility are required.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• 4–6 years in a power plant or industrial setting.
• Familiar with pumps, motors, fans and bearings.
• Knowledge of motor/pump alignment; welding skills.
• Ability to work varied shifts including 12-hour outages.
• Tier 3 training/qualification completion expected.
• Ability to troubleshoot using computer-based tools.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.

Job Summary

This position is responsible for performing operations functions, preventive and corrective maintenance as applicable to job function to ensure proper functioning of plant equipment will work under the direction of site management.

This position is responsible for the proper function and maintenance of equipment at a Gas Plant for the Gas fleet. Responsible for promoting safe, effective, and reliable operation.

Job Description

Key Accountabilities:

• Proficient in primary skill required of position
• Proficient skills for maintaining equipment at the plant
• Performs troubleshooting and documentation, and assists in the resolution of problems discovered on shift
• Performs daily maintenance, overhauls, calibration, troubleshooting, repair/replacement and removal/installation of plant equipment and systems
• Makes decisions and recommends appropriate repair techniques for plant equipment to peers, supervisors, plant management
• Conducts excitation system inspections and preventive maintenance
• Proficient in operating material handling equipment
• Develops and implements plant operating procedures
• Understands relationship of equipment to plant systems
• May provide instruction and teaching to lower level employees
• Ensures strict adherence to safety, health and environmental procedures as they relate to plant operations and maintenance including but not limited to Lockout Tagout, Job Safety Analysis, Confined Space, Hot Work, Electrical Safety and PPE
• Level of position will be determined by applicable skills and experience.

Education, Experience, and Skill Requirements

• Minimum of High School diploma or GED equivalent
• 4 -6 years related experience in a power plant or industrial setting (possibly heavy equipment)
• Familiarity with industrial sized pumps, motors, fans, bearings
• Knowledge of motor alignments and pump alignment, welding knowledge/skills required
• Position requires ability to work four 10-hour days or five 8-hour days; during plant outages 12 hour days or nights required; Call-outs and after-hours support are part of this position
• Satisfactory completion of Tier 2 within primary skill for position job performance measure
• Demonstrate computer based skills
• Demonstrate effective oral & verbal communications skills
• Independent knowledge of troubleshooting
• All applicants must be a successful candidate on the Plant Operator Selection System/Power Plant Operations and Maintenance (POSS / MASS) program in order to be considered a candidate for this position. POSS / MASS exams are administered on an as-needed basis by Human Resources and all communication concerning the testing is sent to the candidate's email address provided during the application process.
