Job summary

Luminant Power LLC in Hays Plant, Texas, seeks an experienced Plant Operator to perform preventive and corrective maintenance on plant equipment under site management. You will promote safe, reliable operation and support equipment across the gas plant fleet, including calibration and troubleshooting.

The role requires 4–6 years in power/industrial settings, a high school diploma or GED, and strong communication and computer skills. Overtime and outages may be required.

Qualifications

• 4–6 years in power plant or industrial setting with pumps, motors, bearings.
• Able to work 4x10s or 5x8s; outages may require 12-hour shifts.
• Strong troubleshooting, math and reading comprehension.
• Computer-based skills and clear communications are essential.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily maintenance, overhauls, calibration, and repair of plant equipment.
• Troubleshoot and document issues; assist in problem resolution on shift.
• Apply safe maintenance practices including JSA, LOTO and PPE.
• Develop plant operating procedures and understand equipment-system relationships.
• May train lower level employees and support plant operations.

Job Summary

This position is responsible for performing operations functions, preventive and corrective maintenance as applicable to job function to ensure proper functioning of plant equipment will work under the direction of site management.
This position is responsible for the proper function and maintenance of equipment at a Gas Plant for the Gas fleet. Responsible for promoting safe, effective, and reliable operation.

Job Description

Key Accountabilities

• Proficient in primary skill required of position
• Proficient skills for maintaining equipment at the plant
• Performs troubleshooting and documentation, and assists in the resolution of problems discovered on shift
• Performs daily maintenance, overhauls, calibration, troubleshooting, repair/replacement and removal/installation of plant equipment and systems
• Makes decisions and recommends appropriate repair techniques for plant equipment to peers, supervisors, plant management
• Conducts excitation system inspections and preventive maintenance
• Proficient in operating material handling equipment
• Develops and implements plant operating procedures
• Understands relationship of equipment to plant systems
• May provide instruction and teaching to lower level employees
• Ensures strict adherence to safety, health and environmental procedures as they relate to plant operations and maintenance including but not limited to Lockout Tagout, Job Safety Analysis, Confined Space, Hot Work, Electrical Safety and PPE

**Level of position will be determined by applicable skills and experience.

Education, Experience, and Skill Requirements

• Minimum of High School diploma or GED equivalent
• 4 -6 years related experience in a power plant or industrial setting (possibly heavy equipment)
• Familiarity with industrial sized pumps, motors, fans, bearings
• Knowledge of motor alignments and pump alignment, welding knowledge/skills required
• Position requires ability to work four 10-hour days or five 8-hour days; during plant outages 12 hour days or nights required; Call-outs and after-hours support are part of this position
• Satisfactory completion of Tier 2 within primary skill for position job performance measure
• Demonstrate computer based skills
• Demonstrate effective oral & verbal communications skills
• Independent knowledge of troubleshooting
