Job summary

Luminant Power LLC is seeking a Plant Operator for its Hays Plant in Texas. This role focuses on operating and maintaining plant equipment, performing preventive and corrective maintenance, and supporting safe and reliable operations under site management direction.

The position requires 4–6 years of relevant experience, strong mechanical knowledge of pumps and motors, and proficiency with PLANT safety procedures.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 4–6 years related experience in power plant or industrial setting.
• Familiarity with industrial pumps, motors, fans, bearings.
• Knowledge of motor and pump alignment; welding knowledge/skills preferred.
• Ability to work varying shifts including 10-hour days or 8-hour days; outages may require 12-hour shifts.
• Completion of Tier 2 within primary skill required.
• Computer-based skills and good verbal communication required.
• Must be a successful candidate on POSS/MASS program as per company process.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain plant equipment ensuring proper functioning of systems.
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance as directed by site management.
• Troubleshoot issues, document findings, and assist in problem resolution on shift.
• Perform calibration, maintenance, repair, and installation of plant equipment and systems.
• Develop and follow plant operating procedures and ensure safety protocols (Lockout/Tagout, JSA, Confined Space, Hot Work).
• Provide instruction to lower level employees as needed.

Job Summary

This position is responsible for performing operations functions, preventive and corrective maintenance as applicable to job function to ensure proper functioning of plant equipment will work under the direction of site management.
This position is responsible for the proper function and maintenance of equipment at a Gas Plant for the Gas fleet. Responsible for promoting safe, effective, and reliable operation.

Job Description

Key Accountabilities:

• Proficient in primary skill required of position
• Proficient skills for maintaining equipment at the plant
• Performs troubleshooting and documentation, and assists in the resolution of problems discovered on shift
• Performs daily maintenance, overhauls, calibration, troubleshooting, repair/replacement and removal/installation of plant equipment and systems
• Makes decisions and recommends appropriate repair techniques for plant equipment to peers, supervisors, plant management
• Conducts excitation system inspections and preventive maintenance
• Proficient in operating material handling equipment
• Develops and implements plant operating procedures
• Understands relationship of equipment to plant systems
• May provide instruction and teaching to lower level employees
• Ensures strict adherence to safety, health and environmental procedures as they relate to plant operations and maintenance including but not limited to Lockout Tagout, Job Safety Analysis, Confined Space, Hot Work, Electrical Safety and PPE

**Level of position will be determined by applicable skills and experience.

Education, Experience, and Skill Requirements:

• Minimum of High School diploma or GED equivalent
• 4 -6 years related experience in a power plant or industrial setting (possibly heavy equipment)
• Familiarity with industrial sized pumps, motors, fans, bearings
• Knowledge of motor alignments and pump alignment, welding knowledge/skills required
• Position requires ability to work four 10-hour days or five 8-hour days; during plant outages 12 hour days or nights required; Call-outs and after-hours support are part of this position
• Satisfactory completion of Tier 2 within primary skill for position job performance measure
• Demonstrate computer based skills
• Demonstrate effective oral & verbal communications skills
• Independent knowledge of troubleshooting
