Job summary

Luminant Power LLC in Texas seeks a Plant Technician to perform operations, preventive and corrective maintenance for plant equipment, under site management. You will promote safe operations and reliable plant performance at the Hays Plant.

Requirements include a High School diploma or GED, 4–6 years in a power plant or industrial setting, familiarity with pumps, motors and pumps alignment, and the ability to work flexible shifts including outage periods. Training through POSS/MASS is required.

Qualifications

• Minimum of High School diploma or GED equivalent
• 4 - 6 years related experience in a power plant or industrial setting
• Familiarity with industrial sized pumps, motors, fans, bearings
• Knowledge of motor alignments and pump alignment
• Welding knowledge/skills required
• Ability to work four 10-hour days or five 8-hour days; outages may require 12-hour days or nights
• Completion of Tier 2 within primary skill for performance measure
• Demonstrate computer-based skills
• Demonstrate effective oral and verbal communications skills
• Independent troubleshooting knowledge

Responsibilities

• Perform operations functions, preventive and corrective maintenance to ensure proper functioning of plant equipment under supervision
• Maintain and repair equipment at a Gas Plant within the Gas fleet and promote safe, reliable operation
• Troubleshoot, document, and assist in problem resolution on shift
• Perform daily maintenance, overhauls, calibration, repair or replacement and installation of plant equipment and systems
• Suggest repair techniques and decisions to peers and plant management
• Conduct excitation system inspections and preventive maintenance
• Operate material handling equipment and follow safety procedures including Lockout Tagout, JSA, Confined Space, Hot Work and PPE
• Provide instruction to lower level employees as needed
