Job summary

The San Francisco Campus for Jewish Living is seeking a Plant Security Officer in San Francisco. You will help ensure safety by monitoring campus premises, controlling access points, responding to alarms, and maintaining a visible security presence across the campus.

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Current and valid California Guard Card required.
• Three years of security guard experience preferred; healthcare experience a plus.
• Experience in a Security Operations Center (SOC) or control room preferred.
• Ability to read, write, and comprehend instructions in English.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).
• Flexible schedule availability.

• Monitor and authorize the entrance of employees, visitors, and others to maintain campus security.
• Patrol grounds and perimeter; observe for safety hazards; secure doors and windows.
• Control and enforce vehicle and pedestrian access across campus.
• Monitor staff parking lots for policy compliance.
• Respond to alarms, elopement alerts, and fire alarms; investigate and act as needed.
• Assist during emergencies and contact police, fire, or other responders.
• Receive, inspect, and sign for courier packages and deliveries.
• Complete daily logs and incident reports of irregularities.
• Answer main phone line when switchboard is closed; provide information as appropriate.
• Monitor SOC cameras and dispatch responses to alarms and suspicions.
• Assist with equipment checks and basic operations in mechanical rooms.
• Respond to after-hours maintenance calls and communicate needs.
• Maintain professional appearance and high-level customer service.

POSITION SUMMARY

As a Plant Security Officer, you will help ensure the safety and security of residents, visitors, staff, and property by monitoring campus premises, controlling access points, responding to alarms and emergencies, and maintaining a visible security presence. This role supports a safe and secure environment across the San Francisco Campus for Jewish Living through proactive patrol, monitoring, and responsive service.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Monitor and authorize the entrance of employees, visitors, and others to maintain campus security.
• Patrol the grounds and perimeter; observe for unusual activity or safety hazards; secure doors and windows.
• Control and enforce vehicle and pedestrian access throughout campus grounds.
• Monitor staff parking lots for compliance with parking policies.
• Respond to door alarms, elopement alerts, and fire alarms; investigate and take appropriate action.
• Assist during emergencies and contact police, fire departments, or other emergency responders as needed.
• Receive, inspect, and sign for courier packages, mail, and deliveries.
• Complete daily activity logs and incident reports documenting irregularities such as damage, theft, unauthorized persons, or other incidents.
• Answer the main telephone line when the switchboard is closed; take messages and provide information as appropriate.
• Monitor Security Operations Center (SOC) cameras and dispatch responses to alarms, alerts, and suspicious activities.
• Assist with equipment checks and basic operational support in mechanical rooms as needed.
• Respond to after-hours maintenance calls to assess and communicate needs.
• Maintain a professional appearance and provide high-level customer service.

• Pay Rate: $22.85-$26.71 per hour

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Current and valid California Guard Card required.

• Experience working in a Security Operations Center (SOC) or control room preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to build rapport with residents, staff, visitors, and volunteers.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to read, write, and comprehend instructions in English.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
• Flexible schedule availability.
• Ability to multitask and remain attentive at assigned post.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Ability to patrol campus grounds regularly and work outdoors in varied weather conditions.
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
• Ability to respond quickly to alarms and emergency situations.
• Ability to communicate effectively in person and by telephone.
