Job summary

State Center Community College District’s Reedley College seeks a Plant Science Instructor for its part‑time faculty pool. The role involves teaching introductory plant science, soils, irrigation, viticulture, enology, pest management, and related courses, using diverse pedagogies for face‑to‑face, online, and hybrid formats.

Candidates must hold a bachelor’s or higher (or an equivalent) with related experience, or an associate degree with six years of related work, and a valid CCC credential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher and two years of directly related experience.
• Associate degree and six years of directly related experience.
• A valid California Community College credential.
• The equivalent education and/or experience (requires an equivalency).

Responsibilities

• Maintain standards of professional conduct and ethics appropriate to the professional position and currency in teaching Plant Science.
• Teach classes in Introduction to Plant Science, Soils, Irrigation, Viticulture, Enology, and/or Pest Management.
• Teach classes in Introduction to Horticulture, Floriculture, Plant Propagation, and/or Plant Identification.
• Use a variety of pedagogies and integrating a wide range of instructional delivery systems including innovative and creative uses of technology for face‑to‑face, on‑line, and/or hybrid formats.
• Communicate effectively with students.
• Use effective teaching methods appropriate to the subject matter, adherence to institutionally approved curriculum course outlines of record.
• Evaluate student progress through tests and examinations, written assignments, oral responses, etc. in keeping with course objectives.
• Provide course syllabi to students.
• Maintain classroom records in accordance with District Policy.
• Turn in all required student grading and evaluation reports in a timely manner; and
• Otherwise fulfilling all of the duties and responsibilities of instructors as required by Administrative Regulation 7122.
