Job summary

The Greenbrier Companies is seeking a Plant Safety/Quality Coordinator to manage the plant safety observation program, perform audits, and support quality initiatives at the Chicago-area facility. This role interfaces with Safety and Quality teams to maintain compliance and drive improvements.

The ideal candidate will coordinate safety tours, develop training, and report findings to management, ensuring adherence to EHS policies and regulatory standards.

Qualifications

• Basic proficiency in AAR and FRA rules/regulations.
• Familiarity with QA principles, QA tools, and QA processes.
• Experience on safety committees or safety-related roles.
• Experience presenting to groups and leadership.
• Experience with incident/accident investigations.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate a plant (non-disciplinary) safety observation program and report findings to leadership.
• Perform plant safety audits and disseminate details to management.
• Convey safety audit results to Plant/Operations Manager.
• Conduct safety tours and report findings.
• Inform Plant Manager of safety violations and refer issues.
• Lead safety training for shop workers and supervisors.
