Job summary

OxyChem is seeking a Reliability Engineer to oversee maintenance and reliability across five Silicates Division plants and a small ACL operation. You will troubleshoot processes, improve preventive and predictive programs, and support capital/expense projects to optimize reliability and efficiency.

The role requires a mechanical or chemical engineering degree, 3+ years of relevant experience, and strong communication. Expect teamwork, safety focus, and ongoing technical advancement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical or chemical engineering required.
• Solid background in plant maintenance and/or mechanical reliability with at least three years of experience.
• High proficiency in Microsoft applications.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to read, write, and speak English.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and teamwork.
• Willingness to work weekends/holidays and respond to callouts as needed.
• Physical ability to lift 40 lbs. and wear PPE, including respirator.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate, recommend, and assist in establishing preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
• Review and evaluate maintenance work and develop best practices.
• Support production goals for each plant via design recommendations that enhance reliability and efficiency.
• Provide backup support to the Divisional Project Engineer for furnace repairs, rehabs, and rebuilds.
• Support capital and expense project work, including scope development, AFE submission, and project execution.
• Assist plants in optimizing routine maintenance and capital/expense project costs.
• Assist with engineering efforts to meet capital requirements and process improvement objectives.
• Remain current on latest technology and develop improvements to maintain leadership.
• Support the Divisional Process Engineer in Process Safety and Mechanical Integrity programs.
• Develop and maintain divisional specifications for piping, valves, gaskets, pumps, and related equipment.
• Assist in qualification, selection, and evaluation of plant contract services for maintenance, inspection, vibration analysis, and related activities.
• Review inspection reports for accuracy and compliance with standards.
• Assist in developing repair and rehabilitation plans.
• Provide support to the Divisional Process Engineer and Divisional Project Engineer.
