Job summary

Bunge is seeking an Engineering Manager in Destrehan, LA to lead safety initiatives and oversee design and execution of plant projects. You will coordinate with management, production, and marketing, and supervise engineers and outside contractors to deliver $2.5M–$5M initiatives that improve efficiency and safety.

The role requires a Bachelor's in engineering and 10+ years in plant operations, with strong analytical and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical, civil, agricultural, electrical, or chemical engineering.
• 10+ years of experience in plant operations, maintenance, and safety.
• Experience managing a team of engineers.
• Proficiency with AutoCad, Word, Excel and Project.
• Knowledge of design codes and government regulations (NFPA 36, NFPA 61, OSHA, EPA).
• Strong problem-solving, organizational, and planning capabilities.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Collaborative team player.
• Experience with projects of $2.5M–$5M affecting plant operations.

Responsibilities

• Actively participate in and lead facility safety activities.
• Design projections/troubleshoot equipment with safety requirements in mind.
• Review and write reports, approve expenditures, and manage material/services purchases.
• Coordinate and direct projects with detailed plans and integration of technical activities.
• Discuss project specs with management, production, and marketing staff.
• Conceptually design and perform feasibility studies for new projects.
• Develop and review cost estimates; ensure schedules and costs are met.
• Manage external engineers/contractors and coordinate with the plant.
• Develop equipment specs and construct bid packages.
• Troubleshoot issues as needed by plant management.
• Catalog and control plant drawings and P&IDs.
• Ensure food safety and quality via company Quality Systems in design and planning.
