Job summary

Algonquin Power & Utilities Corp. is a growing renewable energy and utility company with assets across North America. Liberty operates regulated electricity, water and natural gas services to over 1 million customers.

The Plant Engineer role at the Riverton Plant provides hands-on engineering support across operations, maintenance and capital projects, enhancing safety, reliability and performance in a high-energy environment.

Qualifications

ABET-accredited engineering degree preferred; applicable project mgmt experience acceptable.
1–10 years of engineering experience in an industrial setting.
Solid understanding of power plant components and operation.

Responsibilities

Support safety initiatives, conduct observations, and participate in safety training.
Develop understanding of plant systems, maintenance processes, and scheduling.
Lead small capital/outage projects (<$50k) with scope, bids, and scheduling.
Provide weekend, and 24/7 support as needed for operations.
Assist with O&M budgets, procurement, and equipment specification.
Support outage planning and manage a subset of outage items (3–5 crew).
Develop basic skills across systems: DCS, CMMS, CEMS, and ERP.
