Job summary

Lhoist North America is seeking a Utility Operator to support daily plant maintenance, assist with loading trucks/railcars, and manage lime/limestone waste disposal. The role requires safety discipline, heavy equipment operation, and willingness to work rotating shifts, including holidays.

Candidates should have a high school diploma or GED and 1–2 years in an industrial setting, with basic math and computer skills. Training provided for cross-functional tasks and safety protocols.

Qualifications

• Industrial background with good troubleshooting skills.
• Knowledgeable of safety and environmental practices in lime industry.
• Experience operating heavy equipment is desired.
• Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
• Willingness to work a rotating shift including holidays and overtime.
• Must have a telephone and be open to callouts.
• Able to work outside in extreme weather, heat, dust, and noise.
• Strong communication with supervisors and peers.
• Basic computer skills and familiarity with MS Office.

Responsibilities

• Perform General Plant labor in all operational areas of the plant.
• Demonstrate a working knowledge of kiln and kiln-related systems.
• Clean bins, conveyers, spills, material from under conveyers and catwalks, and other cleaning duties as assigned.
• Continuously observe, monitor, and report any condition that could lead to equipment failure or a safety hazard.
• Operate heavy equipment including vacuum truck, haul truck, bobcat, loader, man lift, forklift, shuttle wagon, and tractor safely.
• Assist maintenance in preventative care and minor repairs of equipment.
• Learn various entry level positions and cross train in other areas of the plant as needed.
• Report any potential operational or safety problems to management.
