Summary

Position Highlights:

The Plant Operator I performs demand and scheduled preventive maintenance of the facility equipment to primarily include Mechanical, Utilities and associated systems in accordance with departmental, hospital and regulatory agency codes. Specific duties include maintaining facilities and equipment in the hospital or clinic environment.

Responsibilities:

• Demonstrates technical knowledge depth for mechanical, utilities and associated systems according to standards established by management team.
• Performs general maintenance repairs and other duties as assigned.
• Responds to emergency situations including disaster response, power or other utilities loss, floods, etc.
• Ensures that all work is performed using the proper PPE to ensure a safe environment.
• Demonstrates knowledge and use of power tools utilized in construction trades.
• Responsible for safe and proper operation as noted in Unit Specific Competency Check.
• Demonstrates the ability to use maintenance equipment and resource with others effectively.
• Provides complete documentation as required by management and authorities having jurisdiction.
• Performs basic infection prevention procedures.
• Identifies changes that are needed on all prints and notifies supervisor.
• Demonstrates ability to work from blueprints and estimate projects.
• Assists with, oversees and/or inspects repairs or modifications performed by contractors.
• Manages individual inventory following departmental inventory management and control parameters.
• Demonstrates management skills such as planning, coordination, estimating, and scheduling skills.
• Demonstrates troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Creates a bill of materials from blueprints.
• Maintains mechanical related equipment and procedure documentation manuals.
• Performs other duties as needed for the hospital within expectations established by management.

Credentials and Experience:

• High School Diploma
• Valid Florida Driver's License
• Six (6) years Experience Chiller/Boiler Service Related Technician is required
• Ability to work various work shifts and/or weekends as needed
• Ability to travel between other Moffitt Cancer Center facilities
• Evidence of a good driving record

Preferred:

• Three (3) years Hospital in related field
