Location: Bank cut, Montana, United States – Plant Location

Reports to: Plant Manager

Works closely with: Operations Department

Position Summary

Agrocorp Processing is seeking a safety-conscious and dependable Plant Operator to support daily grain-processing and shipping operations. The Plant Operator is responsible for receiving inbound deliveries, loading outbound trucks and railcars, monitoring product quality and quantity, maintaining accurate operational records, and keeping the facility clean and safe. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong teamwork, effective communication, attention to detail, and excellent service when interacting with growers, truck drivers, contractors, and other visitors.

Key Responsibilities
Grain Processing and Quality Assurance
  • Review and understand daily delivery, production, and loading plans.
  • Probe incoming and outgoing loads and collect representative product samples.
  • Verify that product quality meets applicable contract specifications.
  • Safely load and unload trucks and railcars.
  • Weigh trucks, prepare scale tickets, and accurately enter transaction information.
  • Spot, inspect, clean, and load railcars in accordance with established procedures.
  • Perform routine quality checks and document results in the appropriate shift logs.
  • Maintain accurate inventory, receiving, shipping, and production records.
  • Retain inbound and outbound product samples and assist with their proper disposal.
  • Complete product changeovers and clean equipment to prevent contamination or product mixing.
Plant Operations, Safety, and Maintenance
  • Read shift reports and communicate important operational information during shift changes.
  • Follow established plant, equipment, and housekeeping schedules.
  • Monitor equipment and immediately report mechanical problems, damage, or other deficiencies to the Plant Manager or shift supervisor.
  • Assist with routine equipment inspections, preventive maintenance, and minor operational adjustments, as assigned.
  • Maintain the cleanliness of production areas, offices, control rooms, and other plant facilities.
  • Clean outdoor areas, including truck scales, loading areas, and the surroundings of rail tracks, when operational conditions permit.
  • Wear all required personal protective equipment in designated areas.
  • Follow all company safety policies and procedures, including lockout/tagout and hot-work permit requirements.
  • Promptly report hazards, unsafe conditions, incidents, near misses, and quality concerns.
  • Ensure contractors and visitors sign in and comply with site safety requirements.
  • Perform other reasonable duties related to plant operations, as assigned.
Teamwork and Customer Service
  • Work collaboratively with team members to receive deliveries, process products, and complete shipments safely and efficiently.
  • Communicate operational, quality, safety, and equipment concerns to the appropriate team members without delay.
  • Share job knowledge and provide respectful, constructive feedback to coworkers.
  • Provide professional and courteous service to growers, truck drivers, contractors, and other visitors.
  • Represent Agrocorp positively during all interactions with customers and business partners.
Qualifications, Knowledge, And Skills
  • Previous experience in grain handling, agricultural processing, manufacturing, warehousing, or a similar industrial environment is preferred.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Strong organizational, time-management, and multitasking skills.
  • Ability to prioritize responsibilities and work with minimal supervision.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to product quality.
  • Ability to follow written instructions, safety procedures, and operational requirements.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Professional internal and external customer-service skills.
  • Basic computer and data-entry skills.
  • Experience operating plant equipment, rail equipment, forklifts, or loaders is considered an asset.
Physical and Working Conditions
  • The plant is in a rural location that may not be accessible by public transportation. Reliable transportation to and from work is required.
  • Must be able to safely lift and carry up to 50 pounds (23 kilograms).
  • Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods and frequently bend, squat, climb ladders, and use stairs.
  • Must be able to work outdoors in varying and adverse weather conditions throughout the year.
  • Must be comfortable working around grain dust, noise, machinery, railcars, trucks, and moving equipment.
  • Must be available to work varying shifts and overtime when required, including evenings and weekends.
  • CSA-approved or equivalent steel-toed safety boots are required.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
