Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Up to 2 years in agriculture, industrial ops, warehouse, construction or related fields beneficial.
• Basic mechanical aptitude preferred.
• Ability to follow procedures and work safely around machinery.
• Good attention to detail and safety compliance.
• Willingness to learn grain quality basics and participate in training.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable attendance.

AgriNorthwest is hiring Grain Operators to join our local farm team!

Summary:

The Grain Operator I performs basic grain‑handling work while learning how the facility operates. This role focuses on working safely, helping operate equipment, and keeping the facility clean and organized. Operators in this position learn core skills such as running simple equipment, assisting with truck and rail unloading, performing basic inspections, and supporting housekeeping and grain quality standards.

Responsibilities:

• Assist with unloading and loading grain from trucks or railcars under direct supervision.
• Operate basic grain‑handling and/or flaking equipment (e.g., conveyors, drags, bucket elevators) with guidance.
• Follow all safety procedures, including PPE use, hazard reporting, and awareness of grain‑handling risks such as dust, rotating equipment, and confined spaces.
• Conduct routine visual inspections of equipment and promptly report abnormal conditions.
• Perform basic grain‑quality checks (sampling, moisture readings, visual observations) and escalate concerns.
• Support recordkeeping by documenting grain movements, bin destinations, and daily activities as directed.
• Maintain facility cleanliness and housekeeping standards, including spill cleanup and safe walkways.
• Assist with preventive maintenance tasks such as lubrication, cleaning, and simple adjustments under supervision.
• Learn and follow SOPs, bin maps, routing basics, and grain‑flow procedures.
• Participate in required safety and operational training.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Basic mechanical aptitude preferred.
• Ability to follow procedures, ask questions, and work safely around machinery.
• Ability to learn grain quality basics (moisture, condition, contamination indicators).
• Strong attention to detail and adherence to safety.
• Willingness to learn, take direction, and participate in team-based work.
• Good communication skills to relay observations and ask for guidance.
• Dependable, punctual, and committed to safe work habits.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Maintain current First Aid and CPR cards.
