ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
Summary/Objective:
The Plant Operator oversees and ensures the efficient and productive operations of the assigned area. Mid-Atlantic Region: Annapolis, MD; Gambrills, MD; Jessup, MD; Seat Pleasant, MD.
Essential Functions:
- Oversee all plant operations, coordinate and monitor daily workload, and maintain plant cleanliness.
- Manage all drivers, operators, and personnel; respond promptly to employee concerns and complete necessary paperwork.
- Coordinate scheduling with Dispatch and monitor driver activity to meet customer needs efficiently.
- Address complaints and concerns timely.
- Maintain adequate supplies (fuel, cement, admixtures, fiber mesh, etc.) and keep accurate reports.
- Ensure proper operation of the plant and equipment through inspections and maintenance.
- Maintain aggregate and admixture levels, including keeping hoppers full.
- Ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations; report potential issues immediately.
- Take samples, perform tests, complete documentation, and report quality issues to Technical Services.
- Keep the plant and equipment clean and well-maintained.
- Operate vehicles and equipment safely.
- Perform pre and post-trip inspections and complete reports.
- Follow environmental protocols and clean up spills or excess materials.
- Perform miscellaneous tasks such as cleaning, sweeping, shoveling, and moving supplies.
Non-Essential Functions:
- Assist with spill cleanup.
- Fill in for colleagues as needed.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
Work Environment:
- Combination of indoor/office and outdoor/field work.
- Exposure to dust, fumes, chemicals, moving machinery, and noise.
Physical Demands:
- Lift, carry, push, pull up to 50 lbs.; grip strength of 25 lbs.
- Reach overhead and away from the body.
- Sit, walk, stand, and kneel for specified durations.
Additional Qualifications
Experience:
- Experience operating heavy equipment like a front-end loader.
Skills:
- Effective communication, basic math, computer skills, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
Certifications:
- State Certified Concrete Technician (must be certified within 1 year).
Education:
- High School diploma or equivalent.
Additional Notes:
- Non-bilingual in Spanish.
