Job summary

New Mexico State University’s Central Utility Plant is hiring a Plant Operator in Las Cruces. You will operate, maintain, and repair boilers, chillers, and other essential utility systems to support campus operations.

The role requires a State High Pressure Boiler License and a High School diploma with relevant experience. Standard work schedule is M-F, 8-5, with AFSCME bargaining unit status and non-exempt classification.

Qualifications

• High School diploma + 3 years of relevant experience.
• State High Pressure Boiler License required.
• Must maintain boiler license per State CID requirements.

Responsibilities

• Central Utility Plant staff manage production and distribution of essential utilities (heating, cooling, power).
• Monitor water treatment for boilers and cooling towers; ensure safety and efficiency.
• Report to work as required for COOP essential operations in emergency situations.
