How will you CONTRIBUTE and GROW?

The Plant Operator is responsible for safely operating equipment for the handling and production of packaged gas cylinders, both for high pressure and liquefied gases.

As the "face of Airgas", the Delivery Driver is responsible for safely and efficiently delivering compressed gas cylinders to local and regional business customers from an Airgas branch or plant location using a company-provided tractor trailer, straight, or box truck. This position involves loading, unloading, delivering, and returning compressed gas cylinders while interacting frequently with Airgas customers.

In particular, you will:
  • Load and unload gas cylinders and/or other products onto and off route trucks and trailers, using proper carts.
  • Sort empty cylinders by type.
  • Operate a forklift for moving cylinders on pallets.
  • Understand hazards of various gases; interpret cylinder labels and color-coding; label cylinders accurately.
  • Handle high-pressure, medical, and liquid cylinders; prepare cylinders and cryogenic vessels for filling; attach to manifold and evacuate cylinders.
  • Perform basic cylinder maintenance such as painting, labeling, and cleaning.
  • Inspect cylinders prior to filling, following standard procedures and conducting safety checks.
  • Assist with inventory management, checking quantities and styles.
  • Manage paperwork in compliance with DOT, FDA, OSHA, and Airgas standards.
  • Ensure safety standards are met and maintain a clean plant environment.
  • Safely load, deliver, and unload cylinders, record deliveries, and obtain customer signatures.
  • Establish and maintain good customer relations, resolving inquiries and complaints.
  • Communicate effectively with management and sales teams about customer issues.
  • Perform cylinder inspections and maintain load manifests and vehicle documents.
  • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections, report deficiencies.
  • Follow all safety rules and report accidents or injuries promptly.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Are you a MATCH?
  • HS Diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • One year of manufacturing or loading experience preferred.
  • Experience in gas, welding, safety supply, or chemical industry preferred.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Interpersonal skills for working with diverse people.
  • Ability to read and interpret safety and operating documents.
  • Detail-oriented.
  • Ability to operate a forklift safely.
  • Math skills.
  • Adherence to safety programs, OSHA, and related regulations.
  • Valid Class A Driver's License.
  • At least one year of recent Class A driving experience with a clean record or equivalent training.
  • Minimum age 21.
  • Experience in gas, welding, safety supply industry is a plus.
  • Valid Medical Examiner's Card.
  • Hazmat and Airbrake Certifications or ability to obtain them.
