The Opportunity

We are looking for a reliable and safety-conscious Plant Operator to join our team, operating a range of construction plant on sites across Cumbria. You will carry out daily checks, operate machines efficiently, and help keep sites safe, tidy, and productive.

Key Responsibilities

• Safely operate a range of plant (e.g., excavators, dumpers, rollers, telehandlers) in line with training and site instructions.
• Complete daily pre-start checks, basic maintenance, cleaning, and refuelling of machines, reporting any defects immediately.
• Work closely with ground workers, supervisors, and other operators to move materials and load/unload vehicles as required.
• Follow all health and safety rules, RAMS, and site traffic management plans, including wearing correct PPE at all times.
• Keep work areas clean, tidy, and well organised to minimise risk and downtime.

About You

• Experience in the construction or plant industry.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel (experience with Eque2 an advantage).
• Full UK driving licence required.
• Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Strong numerical, written, and verbal communication abilities.
• Curious and proactive, eager to learn about construction processes and products.
• Team player with strong interpersonal and negotiation skills.
• Enthusiastic, committed, and adaptable with a professional attitude.
• Able to work effectively under pressure, managing multiple priorities.

Skills and experience

• Good understanding of on-site health and safety and safe systems of work.

• Ability to work as part of a team, take instructions, and maintain a professional attitude on site.
