Job summary

Scot JCB are seeking a skilled plant engineer to join our field engineering team, covering Bedford and surrounding areas with travel to Nottingham, Leicester, Coventry and Oxford. This is a home-based, field role requiring travel to customer sites and the depot for inspections, with a competitive hourly rate, overtime and a bonus.

Responsibilities

• Repairing and maintaining machines on customer sites to spec.

• Working with the service supervisor.
• Inspections and repairs at depot per spec and regs.
• Ensuring safety and reporting defects to management.

This is a Permanent, Full Time vacancy that will close in 23 days at 23:59 BST.

The Vacancy

Scot JCB are looking for a skilled plant engineer to join our growing team of field engineers based in or around the Bedford, Market Harborough or Stevenage areas.

This role will involve covering work in the Nottingham, Leicester, Coventry and Oxford areas, so willingness to travel is essential.

This is a field-based role where you will travel from your home directly to our customers sites, so we are looking for a confident and independent individual with a strong background in the repair and maintenance of plant machinery.

Key Duties And Responsibilities

• Repairing and maintaining machines on customers sites as required to ensure conformance with manufacturer’s specification
• Accurately completing all relevant paperwork daily on a phone or tablet
• Submitting daily timesheets and job cards
• Accurately ordering your parts and working closely with the parts department
• Working closely with the service supervisor
• Carrying out inspections and repairs of machines at our depot as required - in conformance with manufacturer’s specification and any regulations affecting their use
• Ensuring that there is no deficiency or defect likely to affect the safe working of a machine – and notifying appropriate manager of any defective or unsafe equipment

Salary: Competitive base rate plus overtime and bonus

The Ideal Candidate Will Have

• Relevant experience and qualifications e.g. City and Guild, NVQ or SVQ qualifications in Construction Plant Maintenance
• Experience in construction plant, diesel engines, electrics, hydraulics, transmissions, and fault finding using electronic diagnostic equipment
• Experience working on JCB Loadalls would be advantageous
• The ability to prioritise tasks and work well in a busy environment
• Great customer service skills and the ability to build rapport with our customers
• Good IT skills
• A flexible and positive outlook with an outgoing approach to work
