Job summary

Phoenix Metals Hammond plant is seeking a supervisor responsible for coordinating daily metals processing and distribution work within the Plant family. You will supervise staff, operate and support equipment, and ensure safety and quality.

Duties include planning schedules, inspecting production areas, reviewing plans and reports, addressing safety risks, and guiding teams to meet goals. Requirements: 0–5 years supervisory experience, High School diploma or GED, strong communication and problem

Qualifications

• 0-5 years of supervisory experience or equivalent combination of education and relevant operations experience.
• High School diploma/GED required.
• Knowledge of raw materials, production processes and machine capability, material handling, cost, inventory and quality management.
• Knowledge of company product(s) and their uses.
• Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage time effectively.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to initiate and maintain cooperative relationships with co-workers and customers.
• Basic computer proficiency and working knowledge of software applications.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and coordinate daily operations for a functional area that may include multiple departments or areas within the organization.
• Plan and establish work schedules, assignments, and process sequences to meet production and safety goals.
• Routinely inspects production areas and monitors worker activities to address safety risks and operational standards.
• Analyze specifications, blueprints, work orders, inventory/production control reports to determine production requirements and schedules.
• Make decisions or recommendations regarding labor needs.
• Troubleshoot production issues, assist staff with questions and serve as a technical resource for staff.
• Assist in reviewing performance data to measure productivity and determine cost reduction opportunities.
• Utilize inventory models, schedules, spreadsheets and reports to analyze inventory performance and forecasts.
• Recommend measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality.
• Recommend changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency.
• Coordinate operations within or between departments or areas.
• Explain and enforce company policies and procedures.
• Ensure staff have the information needed to do their job and follow up in a timely manner.
• Lead group meetings with staff.
• Assist in the hiring process and/or make recommendations.
• Ensure staff are fully trained for the job they are performing.
• Motivate, mentor, train, and develop staff.
• Prepare and conduct timely performance feedback for staff development.
• Address staff situations appropriately.
• Ensure adherence to safety and quality standards.
