This is a salaried position in Manteno, IL that reports to the VP of Operations, HACO Culinary. The Plant Manager is responsible for the manufacturing, maintenance, facilities functions, and regulatory compliance of the plant, including developing and leading the people and processes in warehouse, production, facility maintenance, and capital projects execution. Key partners include the VP QA/R&D to ensure food safety and product quality, the HR Manager for team safety and welfare, the Sales team to meet customer needs, and the Controller to develop and achieve financial targets. This role significantly contributes to the company's mission, goals, and values, ensuring prosperity for the company and its people.
Responsibilities include:
- Managing production resources and making timely decisions to maximize efficiency.
- Developing and managing manufacturing budgets, including capital expenditures.
- Formulating manufacturing policies to ensure procedural consistency.
- Directing manufacturing support efforts such as quality control, supply chain, plant layout, and equipment selection.
- Implementing plans to increase productivity while maintaining quality and safety standards.
- Reviewing daily production demands and reporting on high-priority jobs and issues.
- Maintaining product quality without exceeding costs.
- Analyzing data to identify waste or overtime and implementing improvements.
- Investigating product loss, inventory issues, and low production volumes.
- Introducing new manufacturing technologies to enhance quality and reduce costs.
- Reviewing scheduling and recruiting manufacturing personnel, including leadership roles.
- Ensuring successful audits and compliance with safety regulations.
- Leading continuous improvement initiatives across departments.
- Participating in internal self-auditing programs.
- Developing yearly budgets and working with the executive team on strategic goals.
Requirements:
- B.A./B.S. degree or equivalent work experience.
- 7-10 years of senior management experience in food manufacturing.
- Knowledge of business principles, budgeting, strategic planning, and HR.
- Proficiency with MS Office and ERP systems.
- Ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities and work independently.
- Experience managing fast-paced operations with short shelf-life products.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
