Job summary

Dairy Farmers of America is seeking a production manager to oversee daily operations across multiple departments, guiding supervisors and staff to meet customer orders while upholding safety, quality, and GMP standards.

You will develop plant objectives with leadership, implement SOPs, monitor performance, manage staffing, and coordinate with HR on discipline, recruitment, and training to sustain efficient, compliant production.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Undergraduate degree in related curriculum preferred.
• 5 to 8 years' experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably food and/or beverage manufacturing.
• Supervisory or management experience.
• Certification and/or License - may be required during course of employment.

Responsibilities

• Manage daily operational activities of supervisors and production staff to ensure customer orders are received, scheduled, and produced at the lowest possible cost while maintaining safety and quality standards.
• Analyze operations and key metrics to ensure high quality and safety; identify ways to increase efficiency and reduce costs.
• Ensure SOPs are developed and maintained for all operational activities.
• Report deficiencies to plant leadership; identify and resolve operational issues.
• Assist in development and implementation of safety programs.
• Ensure adherence to regulations and company policies; advise on interpretation when necessary.
• Conduct meetings with department management to communicate policies, plans, or problems.
• Maintain preparation for and participate in plant inspections by authorized agencies.
• Monitor inventory levels and initiate purchases as appropriate.
• Prepare reports and records for management review.
• Manage assigned employees, including recruitment, supervision, scheduling, development, evaluation, and performance management; apply HR policies and discipline fairly.
• Communicate with employees through shift meetings and promote positive employee relations.
• Maintain safe working conditions and regulatory compliance for health and safety.
• Follow good manufacturing practices and procedures; align with food safety and sanitation requirements.
• Other duties may be assigned as required.
