Job summary

Lhoist North America is seeking an Utility Operator to perform day-to-day plant maintenance, housekeeping, and loading tasks, with responsibility for removing waste lime/limestone to designated dumps. The role includes operating heavy equipment and assisting maintenance staff on preventative care and minor repairs.

Qualifications

• Industrial background with basic troubleshooting skills.
• Experience operating heavy equipment is desirable.
• Must be able to perform basic mathematical calculations.
• Ability to work shift work, including holidays and overtime.
• Must have a telephone and be available for callouts.
• Able to communicate effectively with supervisors and peers.
• Proficient with MS Office and basic computer tasks.

Responsibilities

• Perform general plant labor across operational areas.
• Demonstrate knowledge of kiln and kiln-related systems.
• Clean bins, conveyors, spills, and related areas.
• Monitor conditions and report potential safety or equipment issues.
• Operate heavy equipment safely (vacuum truck, haul truck, bobcat, etc.).
• Assist in preventative maintenance and minor repairs.
• Support kiln outage work and cross-train in other areas.
