Smithfield Foods, Inc. seeks an Assistant General Manager to support the Tar Heel, NC site operations. You will assist in planning, directing, and coordinating all plant activities to ensure policy and procedure compliance and overall profitability.

This role emphasizes yield optimization, labor control, and employee development. The position requires a Bachelor’s degree and 8+ years in plant management, with strong knowledge of OSHA/USDA regulations, SAP, and leadership excellence.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Animal Science, Business or related field with 8+ years' plant management experience.
• Minimum 2+ years in a leadership role overseeing teams.
• Knowledge of OSHA, USDA and Food Safety regulations.
• Experience with SAP and plant performance metrics.

Responsibilities

• Assist General Manager in planning, directing and controlling plant operations.
• Lead yield optimization, labor management and cost control to support P&L.
• Oversee safety, quality, training and employee relations programs.
• Coordinate with HR, Maintenance and Production to meet targets.
• Travel up to 10% and manage weekend shifts as required.
