Job summary

The California Department of State Hospitals – Atascadero is seeking a Building Maintenance Worker in Plant Operations for a 12-month limited-term, full-time role. The incumbent will work in San Luis Obispo County, in an in-office setting, supporting general building practices and safety compliance.

The position requires knowledge of building tools and materials, physical ability to lift heavy loads, and adherence to hospital directives and safety policies.

Qualifications

• Must meet minimum qualifications as per examination bulletin/classification specifications.
• Eligibility via reachable certification list, transfer, or reinstatement.

Responsibilities

• Knowledge of tools, equipment, and materials used in general building practices.
• Demonstrates physical agility and ability to lift 70 pounds, climb ladders, and work on hands and knees.
• Requisitions for varied commodities are filled timely and orders delivered to shops.
• Maintains and upkeeps all tools, equipment and buildings in Plant Operations.
• Follows industrial safety and building codes during work in all facility areas.
• Maintains tool control procedures and proper usage of PPE and MSDS materials.
• Reads and follows Hospital Administrative Directives and Plant Operations policies.
