This position is responsible for all activities within our client's food manufacturing facility. The Plant Manager operates effectively as a leader with direct responsibility for manufacturing and key support processes, including plant shipping operations. The Plant Manager leads through influence in a matrix organization with all functions at the facility. The goal is to lead the plant team to deliver the best safety levels, highest product quality, continuous productivity and profitability improvements, and excellent service to sales operations.
Key Job Responsibilities:
- Oversee manufacturing, maintenance, and shipping operations for a food facility with hourly associates and management staff.
- Ensure safe working conditions and compliance with all environmental, health, and safety regulations.
- Commit to Quality and Food Safety by leading initiatives, providing resources, and supporting continuous improvement of systems.
- Focus on frontline operations, ensuring associates have the tools and capabilities to succeed.
- Utilize lean tools and process improvements to foster a culture of continuous daily improvement.
- Achieve operational KPIs related to safety, quality, service, and cost while improving process reliability.
- Build a culture of mutual respect, teamwork, and professionalism.
- Support market needs and profitable growth of the facility's products.
- Create a customer-focused, flexible organization with strong business acumen.
- Conduct performance reviews and talent assessments, and implement training to address developmental needs.
Qualifications:
- Bilingual in Spanish and English preferred but not required.
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Food Science, or a related technical field.
- 10+ years of manufacturing experience, with at least 5 years in the food industry.
- 4+ years leading a high-performance management team.
- Experience leading safety initiatives towards a zero-injury culture.
- Participative management style with strong organizational and communication skills.
- Proven track record of operational improvement and daily performance delivery.
- Deep knowledge of baking science, process control, and improvement tools.
- Experience with statistical process control and plant systems programs.
- Knowledge of Food Safety Programs (HACCP, GMPs, sanitation, maintenance). Experience with Lean Manufacturing is highly desirable.
