Job description

Constellation Search Group is looking for a Plant Manager for a full-time direct hire position. The Plant Manager will oversee and lead daily machining operations, ensuring production meets customer standards for quality, cost, and delivery. This role involves optimizing machining workflows, enhancing safety and compliance, and driving continuous improvement initiatives. The Plant Manager will foster a high accountability culture, manage production planning, and coordinate cross-functional activities to support new product introductions.

Responsibilities

• Direct daily machining operations to meet customer requirements for quality, cost, and delivery.
• Optimize CNC setups, tool change efficiency, cycle times, and machine utilization.
• Ensure adherence to tight tolerances, inspection protocols, and ISO quality systems.
• Lead supervisors, machinists, and support staff, fostering a high accountability culture.
• Maintain OSHA compliant operations, enforce safety procedures, and promote a zero incident mindset.
• Manage production schedules, labor planning, and machine loading to meet customer deadlines.
• Monitor labor, scrap, tooling, and maintenance costs; implement cost reduction initiatives.
• Lead Kaizen events, 5S, and process improvements to increase throughput and reduce waste.
• Partner with engineering, maintenance, supply chain, and quality teams to resolve issues and support new product introductions.
• Ensure CNC machines, tooling, and support systems are maintained and reliable.
• Coach supervisors and leads on communication, decision making, and performance management.
• Set clear performance expectations, address gaps quickly and fairly.
• Identify skill gaps, create training plans, and grow machinists into higher skill roles.
• Foster trust, recognition, and open communication to improve morale and retention.
• Address interpersonal issues, shift disputes, and cross department friction professionally.
• Recruit machinists, maintenance techs, and supervisors; manage staffing levels to meet production demand.
• Lead teams through process changes, new equipment introductions, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Collaborate with engineering, quality, supply chain, and HR to solve problems and support new product launches.

Qualifications

• BS Degree in an Engineering discipline, Industrial Technology, or equivalent experience.
• Minimum of 10-12 years in manufacturing management, with 5 years of direct involvement in machining processes.
• Proven leadership skills with a hands‑on management style; team player with a participative approach.
• Ability to quantify results, lead change, and interface with all levels of management.
• High aptitude for machining technologies and problem‑solving skills; working knowledge of Lean principles.
• Exposure to cross‑functional quality assurance and materials management; advanced problem‑solving skills.
• Proven ability to work with all levels of management and stakeholders to implement visions, strategies, and project plans effectively.
