Job description

As a Plant Manager/Journeyman Electrician, you will supervise ongoing field services support for solar, battery storage (BESS), and other renewable energy systems. Your responsibilities include optimizing equipment performance, troubleshooting issues, supporting emergency repairs, and ensuring ongoing O&M compliance. You will assist with scheduling routine site inspections, maintenance projects, system testing, and project compliance. The Plant Manager will participate in field support, training, and safety orientations to develop skills in disciplines such as PV array, inverter, medium voltage, BESS, and other solar services.

The Plant Manager will oversee utility-scale operations for the Faraday Solar and BESS Project in Elberta, Utah, managing 6 direct reports.

The position's target start date is 07/28/2025. QE Solar will provide 4 weeks of training at another Utility Operations location. Travel during training is required. The Plant Manager duties will commence on 09/01/2025.

Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities:

1. Diagnose and repair systems failures on solar sites, identify potential issues, and perform preventative maintenance on solar, BESS, and related equipment. Support warranty matters and equipment replacement.
2. Manage internal and external field teams, schedule work, and ensure contractual and regulatory compliance.
3. Maintain a safe work environment by adhering to safety protocols, manuals, and regulations, including lock-out/tag-out, JHA, and LDL testing.
4. Prepare service tickets and reports for site visits, repairs, and system modifications. Communicate findings and updates promptly.
5. Coordinate with leadership, project managers, clients, and subcontractors to ensure timely activity completion.

Knowledge: Power generation systems (preferably Substations, PV, BESS), SCADA/PPC proficiency.

Skills: Troubleshooting, mechanical and electrical repair.

Abilities: Teamwork, personnel management, problem-solving.

Physical Requirements: Ability to lift over 25/50/80 lbs.

Working Conditions: Outdoors.

Required Education: High School or Technical School Degree or equivalent experience. Veterans are encouraged to apply.

Preferred Education: 4-year applicable degree.

Required Experience: 2+ years in solar, BESS, or renewable systems; experience with Data Acquisition Systems (DAS).

Preferred Experience: 4+ years as Plant Manager or Field Engineer; experience with 600v-1500v systems; knowledge of NEC, IEEE, NFPA-70e; proficiency with technology; solar site operations and maintenance experience.

Required License: MA Journeyman License.

Preferred Certifications: Inverter/BESS manufacturer certifications, Thermography Level 1, networking skills, NABCEP PV Installer, OSHA 10/30, NFPA 70E, CPR/First Aid.

Workplace: On-site. Salary: $85,000-$90,000/year. Full-time position located in Elberta, UT.
