Our client, a leader in commercial plastics manufacturing, is seeking an experienced Plant Manager, to join their winning team in Paramus.
Our candidate of choice will be a pivotal leader responsible for the strategic and tactical direction of our manufacturing facility. You will champion operational excellence across all facets of commercial production, encompassing fabrication, assembly, inventory control, and packaging processes. Your core mission will be to optimize production efficiency, uphold stringent quality standards, drive continuous improvement initiatives, and cultivate a high-performing and engaged workforce.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Strategic Leadership & Team Development: Provide inspirational leadership and clear direction to the entire manufacturing team, fostering a culture of safety, accountability, collaboration, and continuous learning. Mentor and develop team members to maximize their potential and contribute to organizational goals.
- Operational Optimization & Execution: Oversee all day-to-day manufacturing operations, ensuring adherence to production schedules, on-time delivery of high-quality products that consistently meet or exceed customer specifications. Proactively identify and implement strategies to streamline workflows and enhance overall operational effectiveness.
- Resource & Capacity Management: Strategically manage and allocate personnel, equipment, and material resources to optimize production output, minimize waste, and achieve cost-efficiency targets. Evaluate and plan for future capacity needs to support business growth.
- Continuous Improvement & Innovation: Champion and embed a culture of continuous improvement throughout the plant, leveraging lean manufacturing principles, data analysis, and problem-solving methodologies to identify and implement process enhancements, reduce variability, and drive innovation.
- Quality Assurance & Compliance: Ensure unwavering adherence to established quality control standards and procedures across all stages of the manufacturing process. Implement and monitor key quality metrics, proactively addressing any deviations to maintain product integrity. Maintain compliance with all relevant industry regulations, safety protocols, and environmental standards.
- Inventory Control & Supply Chain Collaboration: Develop, implement, and maintain robust inventory management systems to optimize stock levels, minimize carrying costs, and ensure timely availability of materials. Collaborate effectively with the supply chain team to ensure seamless material flow and mitigate potential disruptions.
- Problem Solving & Risk Mitigation: Proactively identify and effectively troubleshoot manufacturing, equipment, and packaging issues, implementing timely and sustainable solutions to minimize downtime and maintain uninterrupted production flow. Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies to safeguard operational continuity.
- Budgeting, Forecasting & Performance Analysis: Develop and manage the operational budget, ensuring fiscal responsibility and alignment with business objectives. Accurately forecast production needs, material requirements, and resource allocation. Analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) to identify trends, track progress against goals, and implement data-driven improvements.
- Cross-functional Communication & Collaboration: Foster open and transparent communication and collaboration across all departments, including sales, customer service, engineering, and supply chain, to ensure alignment and effective problem-solving.
- Safety Leadership: Champion a strong safety culture, ensuring all employees adhere to safety policies and procedures. Proactively identify and address potential hazards to maintain a safe and healthy work environment.
KEY QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Industrial, Manufacturing, Mechanical preferred), Business Administration, Operations Management, or a related field.
- Minimum of 7+ years of progressive leadership experience within a dynamic manufacturing environment, with demonstrated success in managing complex operations.
- Proven track record of achieving significant improvements in operational efficiency, quality, cost reduction, and on-time delivery through the implementation of best practices and continuous improvement methodologies.
- In-depth understanding and practical application of lean manufacturing principles (e.g., Value Stream Mapping, 5S, Kaizen, Kanban).
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret data, identify root causes, and implement effective solutions. 1
- Outstanding leadership, communication (written and verbal), and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively motivate, influence, and build high-performing teams across diverse levels.
- Strong commitment to workplace safety and a thorough understanding of relevant safety regulations and best practices.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and experience with manufacturing software systems, including ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) and MES (Manufacturing Execution Systems).
