Opportunity Summary

The Plant Manager at the TWA Hotel Flight Energy Center will lead all aspects of plant operations, including production, maintenance, engineering, safety, and administration, to ensure reliable and efficient support of the facility’s energy systems. Responsibilities include regulatory compliance, budget development, contract administration, and continuous improvement of plant performance, while fostering a culture of safety and operational excellence. The role also involves stakeholder liaison, personnel development, and contributing to strategic planning and policy implementation.

Your scope of responsibility as Plant Manager includes:
  1. Oversee production, maintenance, engineering, and administrative functions for seamless plant operations.
  2. Manage safety, operations, maintenance, training, and environmental QA/QC programs to ensure safe and reliable plant operation.
  3. Promote a safe workplace, investigate incidents, and implement corrective actions.
  4. Review and improve plant operating practices and procedures.
  5. Represent the plant during inspections and participate in meetings, hearings, and conferences.
  6. Prepare and manage the annual operations and maintenance budget.
  7. Administer facility contracts on behalf of the Owners.
  8. Coordinate strategic, emergency, and short-range planning activities.
  9. Ensure compliance with all relevant codes and regulations, including EPA and OSHA.
  10. Participate in policy planning and implementation.
  11. Develop job standards for hourly personnel.
  12. Oversee report preparation for clients, utilities, and environmental compliance.
  13. Manage administrative functions, including personnel matters and budget execution.
  14. Review and support major construction projects or renovations.
  15. Authorize purchase of materials and equipment within limits.
  16. Oversee plant outages and engage in hands-on maintenance as needed.
  17. Ensure staff certifications are maintained and advise senior management.
  18. Analyze plant performance and optimize project execution.
  19. Maintain relationships with stakeholders and enforce policies and procedures.
  20. Participate in recruitment, employee development, and performance management.
  21. Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

Working Relationships

The Plant Manager reports to the Operations Director, supervises managers, technicians, and administrative staff, and acts as the primary contact between NAES and the Owner regarding plant operations and maintenance.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

The role involves standing, climbing, working at heights, lifting up to 50 pounds, and working in a power plant environment with potential hazards and exposure to extreme conditions and hazardous materials. Use of protective equipment is required, and strict safety protocols must be followed.

Fitness for Duty

Participation in the Fitness for Duty Program, including physical exams and drug screening, is mandatory.

Work Schedule

Standard hours are Monday to Friday during the day, with occasional extended hours, weekends, holidays, and travel as needed.

Compensation

Starting salary ranges from $177,000 to $185,000, including an annual performance bonus.

Job Qualifications

Ideal candidates will have extensive power plant operations and maintenance experience, a relevant Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, and certifications such as a NYC Fire Department Refrigeration Machine Operator license. Prior experience as a Plant Manager, strong leadership, safety, environmental, and financial skills are essential.
