Job summary

Exela Pharma Sciences LLC is seeking a dynamic and experienced Plant Manager to oversee our manufacturing operations in Lenoir, North Carolina. The ideal candidate will have a background in the Food & Beverage or Automotive industries and demonstrate leadership skills to ensure efficient production processes.

Responsibilities include managing plant operations, ensuring safety compliance, and driving continuous improvement initiatives. A minimum of 5 years in a similar role and an Associate’s degree are required.

Position Summary

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Plant Manager to oversee our manufacturing operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Food & Beverage or Automotive production, leadership skills, and a commitment to excellence in quality and safety. The Plant Manager will be responsible for ensuring efficient production processes, managing staff, and optimizing operations to meet our company goals.

Job Responsibilities
  • Operations Management: Oversee all aspects of plant operations, including production, quality control, maintenance, and shipping.
  • Team Leadership: Manage, mentor, and develop a team of supervisors and staff to achieve operational goals while fostering a positive work environment.
  • Safety Compliance: Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and standards, implementing best practices for workplace safety and employee training.
  • Quality Assurance: Maintain high standards of quality in production processes, implementing quality control measures and addressing any quality issues that arise.
  • Continuous Improvement: Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency, reduce waste, and improve product quality.
  • Supply Chain Coordination: Collaborate with procurement and logistics to ensure timely availability of materials and efficient distribution of products.
Required Skills
  • 5-10+ years of experience in plant management or similar roles within the food and beverage industry, automotive industry, or similar rigorous production.
  • Strong understanding of FDA regulations is a plus but not required.
  • Proven experience in process improvement methodologies (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma).
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to analyze data and make informed decisions.
  • Proficient in plant management software and Microsoft Office Suite; SAP is a plus.
  • Ability to comply with and enforce aseptic practices and cleanroom behavior.
  • Ability to lead a team to manufacture product in a compliant manner employing accuracy and efficiency.
  • Be able to communicate timely and effectively with both senior management and employees.
  • Ability to hold employees accountable for accurate, complete, and timely task execution.
  • Must display sound judgment, ability to seek guidance, and provide clear directions.
  • Strong analytical, listening, verbal/written communication, achieve accuracy without being rushed, efficient time-management, problem-solving, attention to detail, prioritization, organization, interpersonal, computer and conflict management skills.
  • Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, division).
Education Requirements
  • Associate’s degree required, or a combination of experience and education may be substituted in lieu of a formal degree.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Engineering, Business Management, or related field preferred.
Other requirements
  • Two (2) years of previous leadership experience preferred.
  • Five (5) years manufacturing experience in the pharmaceutical, food, automotive or chemical or other cGMP industries required.
