Summary:

The Plant Manager - WEA reports to our Director of Manufacturing and is responsible for achieving improvements in all aspects of plant operations. Manage local plant resources to safely and economically meet the company's production needs with respect to volume, quality, timeliness, and cost. Work towards continual improvement through World Class Manufacturing concepts.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for recommending and making improvements in products, manufacturing processes or methods, and all other aspect of plant operations to achieve plant safety, quality, service and cost goals via timely project completion. Prepares justification proposals.
  • Responsible for conformance to prints standard and/or calibration specification for all parts, components, work-in-process and products used/produced in the plant. Create, maintain, enforces and audits quality control procedures/systems as necessary.
  • Responsible for establishing production schedules and deadlines, consistent with order activity to achieve plant "on time delivery" goal.
  • Responsible for operating plant free from work-related injuries and illnesses, and for promoting safety consciousness and practices throughout the plant population. Reduces accident frequency and severity to achieve improvement goal.
  • Prepare and submit for approval an annual capital budget for the plant. Responsible for achieving production results within approved budgets and production efficiency limits.
  • Responsible for maintenance of, and improvements to the facility and equipment.
  • Responsible for staffing, training, and general supervision of the plant workforce.
  • Responsible for maintaining good morale within the workforce, and for identifying and resolving employee relations problems that may arise.
  • Responsible for representing the plant and the company in the local community.
  • Responsible for maintenance of comprehensive and timely production records.
  • Responsible for optimizing operations productivity including feedback to Purchasing Department towards improvements in strategic procurement of materials for division.
  • Responsible in working with Engineering Department for proper documentation,
  • Manufacturing procedures and pilot runs of new released products.

Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s):

  • Operate at or below budget.
  • Work order throughput time an average of 3 days.
  • On-time delivery of 99% or better.
  • Factory warranty returns below .1%.
  • FPY on flow lines to 98.5

Requirements

Required Skills / Experience / Competencies:

  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in engineering.
  • Must have 10 years manufacturing engineering and / or supervision experience.
  • Requires maturity, and the ability to work independently, manage multiple projects, and provide technical guidance for product and process improvement.
  • Manufacturing machining experience with through knowledge of sound machining principles, tooling, fixtures, set-up, and operation of CNC turning and machining centers, manual lathes, and mills.

Work Conditions:

  • Work in an office environment and routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. Some areas are narrow and difficult to maneuver. Work hours are from 8:00 am until 5:00pm with minimal flexibility. No elevator access to the second floor.
