Job description

Job Title: Plant Manager

Job Summary:

The ideal candidate will be responsible for overall supervision of plant operations, including production, quality control, maintenance, materials management, daily P&L, procurement/purchasing, finance/accounting, shipping/receiving, R&D, business development, and customer sales.

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

1. Production:
2. Track operating efficiencies
3. Manage labor expenditures
4. Reduce scrap
5. Improve production through Kaizen events, Kanban systems, SMED workshops
6. Ensure adherence to 5-S principles
7. Research and specify new equipment needs
8. Design layouts for new tooling focusing on material utilization and profitability

Quality and Service:

1. Ensure 100% on-time delivery of products
2. Implement and improve corporate and facility QMS
3. Reduce annual PPM rate

Safety:

1. Lead efforts to maintain an accident-free facility
2. Facilitate monthly safety training per corporate and OSHA standards

Materials and Inventory:

1. Maintain inventory with 8 turns annually
2. Keep BOMs updated and accurate
3. Specify new material requirements
4. Negotiate with suppliers to maintain favorable costs

Qualifications & Experience:

• Expertise in MS Office/Excel
• 8+ years management experience in manufacturing
• Bachelor’s Degree, Associates, or equivalent experience
• Experience with documented quality systems
• Knowledge of Lean methodologies
• Understanding of converting techniques and processes
• Willingness to travel 25-50%
• Experience with TS/ISO 16949
• Proficiency in AutoCAD
• Understanding OEM market pressures

Supervisory Responsibilities:

The Plant Manager will oversee interviewing, hiring, training, directing work, planning, handling complaints, resolving issues, and conducting performance reviews.
