Job summary

Pick Your Part is seeking an experienced Plant Operations Supervisor to oversee production, quality control, maintenance, receiving and shipping, ensuring safe, efficient operations.

You will lead diverse teams, manage KPIs, budgets, and customer relationships, and drive continuous improvement while upholding safety standards across the facility.

This role requires strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills, with an ability to adapt in a fast-paced salvage yard environment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
• 5+ years of managerial or supervisory experience in production, operations, or distribution.
• Preferred experience in salvage yards.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all departments for the facility including production, administration, distribution, and safety.
• Develop relationships with existing customers to promote retention and loyalty.
• Interact with customers to determine service needs and implement changes accordingly.
• Manage KPIs related to sales growth, collections, productivity, inventory control and margins.
• Create budget projections and operate within the budget.
• Oversee product quality control and implement improvements.
• Handle HR tasks including hiring, termination, and reassignment.
• Identify deficiencies and implement continuous improvement plans.
• Engage with the local community and develop leadership at lead foreman levels.

Summary:

Responsible for general supervision of all phases of plant operations including production, quality control, high quality customer service, maintenance, receiving, and shipping. To assure that the plant is run in a safe, efficient, and proper manner. Manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs.

Essential Job Duties

• Oversee all departments for the specific facility pertaining to production, administration, distribution, and safety.
• Develop relationships with and provide service to existing customers in efforts to promote customer retention and loyalty.
• Interact with customers to determine better service needs and implement changes accordingly.
• Manage key performance indicators relative to sales growth, collections, productivity, inventory control and profit margins.
• Establish accurate budget projections and work within the designated budget.
• Oversee product quality control and implement efficient changes as necessary.
• Manage aspects of human resources for all departments by hiring, terminating, and reassigning personnel to appropriate tasks as required.
• Assume other duties as assigned.
• Identify deficiencies and implement a plan for continuous improvement
• Actively reaching out and being involved in the local community.
• Ability to develop leadership at the lead person and foreman levels.
• Assume other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities

• Manage the work of others, including planning, assigning, scheduling and reviewing work, ensuring quality standards.
• Responsible for hiring, terminating, training and developing, reviewing performance and administering corrective action for staff.

Minimum Requirements

Education & Experience

• High School Diploma/GED.
• 5+ years of managerial/supervisory experience related to production, operations, and/or distribution.

Preferred Requirements

• Prior experience management in salvage yards.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rates, ratios, and percentages and to draw and interpret graphs.
• Frequent use of Outlook, Word, Excel, graphics, etc. Ability to create, maintain and incorporate functions into Word documents, Excel spreadsheets, databases, and PowerPoint presentations to support business objectives.
• Frequently communicates complex information across departments and interacts with management. Can present, resolve and address delicate situations. Can motivate and persuade others.

Essential Physical Demands/Work Environment

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, push, pull, squat, bend, reach, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or sit for extended periods.
• The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. On occasions, an employee may be asked to lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
• The employee may be exposed to hazardous situations, conditions, and equipment. Must be able to work in cramped spaces or underneath vehicles that may require getting into awkward positions. May regularly wear personal protective equipment (PPE). May be exposed to extreme temperatures and high noise levels.
• Travel may be required periodically, including overnight stays (contingent on position requirements).
