Job summary

Wabash is seeking a Plant Manager to lead daily operations, ensuring safety, efficiency and cost effectiveness within the facility. You will drive implementation of lean manufacturing, schedule adherence, and cross‑functional coordination to achieve performance targets.

Ideal candidates have a strong track record in heavy manufacturing with experience in lean/Six Sigma and the ability to manage large teams while focusing on continuous improvement and safety culture.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related field; will consider equivalent experience.
  • Experience leading plant/production teams with cost and safety focus.
  • Knowledge of AS400, Excel and MRP systems is required.

  • Maintains safety culture and systematic process improvements.
  • Develops and communicates performance metrics and accountability.

About the Role:

The Plant Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations that occur within the facility, ensuring the facility runs efficiently, safely, and cost-effectively. The Plant Manager will be a key member of the management team and will assist in Wabash's vision and growth strategies and will execute business and operations plans to achieve performance targets.

Your Responsibilities:
  • Manages the plant function and related activities
  • Plans, organizes, and directs the manufacturing operations to ensure the most effective return on assets
  • Confers with other departments to coordinate operations and/or activities, as needed
  • Initiates plans and processes which minimize manufacturing costs through effective utilization of manpower, equipment, facilities, materials, and capital
  • Assures attainment of business objectives and production schedules while insuring product standards that will exceed our customers' expectations
  • Implements manufacturing strategies and action plans to ensure that the facility supports Wabash's strategic initiatives
  • Establishes group and individual accountabilities throughout assigned departments for problem solving and cost reduction
  • Encourages new techniques and focus on fact based problem-solving
  • Strategically adjusts and balances personal to maintain set labor efficiency targets
  • Implements and maintains Lean Manufacturing principles and standards and manage to 5S initiatives
  • Works to establish management practices throughout assigned areas which include all employees' positive involvement with opportunity for constructive input and action
  • Continually improves safety record by addressing both physical safety issues and employee safety attitudes
  • Maintains individual skills keeping up to date with latest production and production management concepts
  • Other duties as assigned
Let's Talk About Your Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree; major desired: Engineering or related field, Business, or related field. Will consider an Associate Degree with significant number of years in a Plant/Production Manager role
  • Knowledge and/or training courses specific for this position (explanation -- list at least 3):
  • Computer proficiency with AS400, Excel, and MS Office
  • HAZWOPER training
  • Maintenance and Materials Knowledge, including preventative maintenance systems and MRP systems
  • Lean manufacturing / Six Sigma
  • 5S training
  • Read and understand engineering drawings/blueprints and BOM
  • Familiar with applicable OSHA and EPA standards
  • Proven leadership skills
  • Strong project management skills, time management skills, detail-orientation, and organizational ability
