Job summary

Piston Automotive is seeking a Plant Manager for our Auburn Hills, MI facility launch. You will direct all plant operations including Production, Maintenance, Quality, HR, Finance, IT and other production-related activities within the site.

The ideal candidate has eight years of plant or general management experience in manufacturing, plus a Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Engineering or related field, and significant experience leading in a union environment.

Qualifications

  • Minimum eight (8) years of plant or general management experience in manufacturing.
  • Experience managing in a union environment.
  • Lean/Six Sigma certifications or demonstrated mastery of lean principles.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and monitor short and long-term budgets to meet financial commitments.
  • Coordinate plant activities with managers to achieve objectives cost-effectively.
  • Implement cost-control systems over capital, operating expenditures, manpower, wages and salaries.
  • Manage capital asset maintenance.
  • Establish and monitor overall plant performance for production and quality.
  • Control overtime, premium freight and repair expenses.
  • Maintain facilities and equipment; replace or adjust as needed.
  • Provide leadership and training to achieve company goals safely.
  • Implement preventative maintenance programs.
  • Promote shop floor organization and plant cleanliness.
  • Ensure compliance with legal requirements and safety regulations.

Overview

Piston Automotive is seeking a Plant Manager for our Auburn Hills, MI new facility launch! This facility will support General Motors. The Plant Manager is a critical thinker (independent thinking) who will direct and manage all plant operations with overall responsibilities for Production, Maintenance, Quality, HR, Finance, IT and all other production-related activities within the site. This position manages all employees in the plant and is responsible for their performance management, with input from other functional leaders, on an annual basis. The successful candidate will have strong organizational and planning experience as well as excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills.

Responsibilities
  • Plans and monitors both short and long‑term budgets to ensure the plant meets the sites financial commitments.
  • Coordinate plant activities through the planning with departmental managers to insure the manufacturing objectives are accomplished in a timely and cost‑effective manner.
  • Implement cost effective systems of control over capital, operating expenditures, manpower, wages and salaries.
  • Manages capital asset maintenance.
  • Establish and monitor overall plant performance for production and quality standards.
  • Control and minimize overtime, premium freight and repair expenses.
  • Maintain existing plant facilities and equipment; replace, or make adjustments to plant facilities and equipment when necessary.
  • Provide leadership and training to accomplish the company goals and objectives in a safe manner.
  • Implements and maintains preventative maintenance programs.
  • Incorporates shop floor organization and plant cleanliness among plant personnel.
  • Ensure all legal requirements, company safety procedures, and local and state health and safety regulations are met.
Qualifications
  • A minimum of eight (8) years of plant or general management experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Bachelor's degree in Business. Finance, Engineering or a related field
  • A minimum of eight (8) years of experience managing in a union environment.
  • Eight years of experience leading salaried employees
  • A minimum of eight (8) years of experience with: ? Lean Manufacturing Principles 5-S Kanban Kaizen Poka-Yoke ? Six Sigma ? Root Cause Analysis
  • Must be able to frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
  • Vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and color vision. PREFERRED SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Automotive industry experience
  • Six Sigma Black Belt certification
  • Lean Manufacturing certification
