Job summary

Washington Gas is hiring a Plant Maintenance Technician I to join our team. You’ll play a key part in keeping our energy infrastructure running smoothly, assisting with maintenance and operation of peak shaving plants, gas conditioning facilities, gate stations, and pressure regulating equipment under supervision.

You will perform maintenance tasks, read schematics, support inspections, and maintain records.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma / GED.
  • Minimum 18 months of hands-on technical or mechanical experience in industrial/manufacturing settings.
  • Experience with pumps, compressors, boilers, or rotating equipment.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Able to obtain Maryland 4th Grade Stationary Engineer License within 18 months.
  • Able to pass required pre-employment assessments and training.
  • Willing to perform safety-related and administrative duties as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in operation, maintenance, and repair of plant equipment, including gas, steam, air, and propane systems.
  • Support gate stations, regulators, and SCADA systems.
  • Read and interpret drawings, schematics, P&IDs, and maps.
  • Perform confined-space work and inspections as required.
  • Maintain electronic work orders, time sheets, and maintenance records.
  • Keep tools, equipment, and work areas in safe, proper condition.
