Job summary

Tyson Foods in Shelbyville, TN is seeking a Maintenance Generalist to perform skilled maintenance on production equipment, utilities, and systems. You will troubleshoot, repair, and maintain assets to maximize uptime while ensuring safety and food quality standards.

The role requires adaptability and a safety-first mindset in a fast-paced plant environment. The position involves performing preventive maintenance, documenting work in SAP, and supporting installations, upgrades, and large repairs

Qualifications

• Basic understanding of mechanical systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, and electrical troubleshooting.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, equipment manuals, and technical drawings.
• Proficient use of hand tools, welding equipment, and multimeters.
• Basic computer skills for data entry and system navigation (SAP, email, etc.).
• Strong communication and teamwork skills under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Perform scheduled preventive maintenance (PM) on mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
• Troubleshoot and repair equipment failures quickly and effectively to support production needs.
• Document work performed using SAP.
• Assist in equipment installations, upgrades, and modifications as directed.
• Use hand and power tools, welders, and basic diagnostic devices to complete maintenance tasks.
• Support safe work practices including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), confined space entry, and hot work permitting.
• Maintain tools, equipment, and maintenance areas in a clean and organized condition.
• Perform other duties as assigned by maintenance lead or supervisor.
• Communicate clearly with production, sanitation, and QA personnel to identify issues and share maintenance status.
• Identify and report recurring problems and recommend long-termsolutions.
• Support other maintenance personnel in large repairs or special projects.
