Job Summary:

The Plant Maintenance/Operator is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and organized environment around the plant. This position supports daily operations by handling materials, assisting with maintenance, and ensuring effective communication with plant personnel.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance on the quarry plant.
2. Troubleshoot and repair minor mechanical issues or failures within the plant.
3. Clean and clear debris from under conveyors and around plant equipment to ensure safety and prevent mechanical failure.
4. Lubricate and grease conveyors and other moving parts as needed to maintain efficient operation.
5. Safely operate skid steers, forklifts, small loaders, and other heavy equipment as needed to support plant operations and maintenance activities.
6. Transport materials, tools, and equipment throughout the plant as required.
7. Maintain a clean and organized work environment, including sweeping, removing debris, and cleaning plant areas as needed.
8. Ensure that the work area is free of hazards and meets safety standards.
9. In-person attendance is required.

Other Required Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Assist with other tasks as directed by supervisors or plant management.
2. Perform other duties and tasks as required to support plant operations.
3. Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
4. Ability to work in all weather conditions.
5. Safely access and navigate the facility, including climbing and descending ladders.
6. The position will require work outside of normal business hours.
7. Prolonged periods of sitting and standing.

Skills/Abilities:

1. Able to stick weld and use cutting torch.
2. Must possess a valid driver's license and maintain an acceptable driving record.
3. Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential.
4. Must maintain professional relationships with managers and colleagues.
5. Represent The Gerken Companies to customers in a professional manner, supporting the company’s goals.
6. Willingness to learn, with a positive attitude, dependability, and strong teamwork.
7. Ability to work safely and efficiently is essential.

Education and Experience:

1. Education equivalent to graduation from an accredited high school is required.
2. Mechanical Skills are not required but are beneficial to this position.
