Position Overview:

Under general supervision, responsible for the safe and efficient management of a large maintenance department covering electrical and mechanical maintenance, planning, and contractor management. Provides leadership, coaching, counseling, advising, and teaching to team members. Directs, monitors, and evaluates performance of direct reports. Manages budgets to achieve performance, cost efficiency, and reliability goals. Coordinates plant work management activities between Operations and Maintenance to optimize operational performance. Ensures work priorities support operational goals, including outage planning and equipment scheduling. Maintains communication with System Energy Coordination.

Key Duties:

  • Provides leadership, coaching, and teaching to team members.
  • Ensures safe and reliable maintenance of power assets.
  • Develops work management philosophy.
  • Manages projects, including engineering review, scope development, and technical specifications.
  • Coordinates multi-discipline project activities.
  • Initiates projects to improve station reliability.
  • Reviews and recommends station operational budgets.
  • Supports engineering evaluations, factory acceptance testing, and procurement.

Basic Requirements:

  • Degreed candidates: 7+ years of progressive experience in power plant maintenance, demonstrating technical and supervisory success.
  • Non-degreed candidates: 10+ years of progressive supervisory experience in power plant maintenance.
  • Experience with boiler, turbine, pump, valve, switchgear, and related equipment maintenance.
  • Work and asset management experience.
  • Project and contract management experience.

Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Computer Engineering or related field.
  • Union experience preferred.
  • Experience in electric utility, power plant maintenance, transmission, or distribution.
  • Proven team management skills.
  • Proficient in Excel, Word, SAP, and asset management tools.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Results-driven, self-motivated, able to work independently.
  • Ability to interpret technical diagrams and manuals.
