Position Overview

Under general supervision, responsible for the safe and efficient management of a large maintenance department covering electrical, mechanical maintenance, planning, and contractor management. Provides leadership, coaching, counseling, advising, and teaching through daily contact. Directs, monitors, and evaluates the performance of direct reports. Prepares and manages budgets to ensure performance, cost efficiency, and reliability. Coordinates plant work management activities between Operations and Maintenance to optimize performance metrics such as unit reliability, EAF, FAF, EFOR. Ensures work priorities support operational goals, manages outage scheduling, and communicates regularly with the System Energy Coordination office.

Key Duties

  • Provides leadership, coaching, and teaching to staff
  • Maintains power generation assets safely and reliably
  • Develops work management philosophy within the maintenance group
  • Oversees project management, including engineering review, scope development, technical specifications, and controls analysis
  • Coordinates multi-discipline project activities for maintenance, operation, and installation
  • Initiates projects to improve station reliability
  • Reviews and recommends station budget changes
  • Assists in engineering evaluations, factory acceptance testing, and procurement

Basic Requirements

  • Degreed candidates: 7+ years of progressive power plant maintenance experience, with success in technical and supervisory roles
  • Non-degreed candidates: 10+ years of similar experience in supervisory roles
  • Experience with boiler, turbine, pump, valve, switchgear, and related equipment
  • Work and asset management experience
  • Project and contract management experience

Preferred Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Computer Engineering (preferred)
  • Union experience
  • Experience in electric utility, power plant maintenance, transmission, or distribution
  • Team management skills
  • Proficiency in Excel and Word
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Results-driven, self-motivated, able to work independently
  • Understanding of electrical diagrams, schematics, and technical manuals
  • Experience with SAP or similar systems
  • Asset management experience
