JOB DESCRIPTION:
This individual will be responsible for planning and designing water pumping stations, lift stations, reclaimed water facilities, surface water, groundwater, and wastewater treatment plants for both private and public clients. Responsibilities include directing and designing projects, creating layouts, detailed designs, plans, specifications, and estimates. The individual will prepare engineering documents, perform hydraulic analyses, develop hydraulic profiles, and coordinate with CADD technicians for construction plans. They will serve as a technical resource for EITs with 1-3 years of experience, assisting in completing designs and producing construction documents. Opportunities for additional management responsibilities are encouraged.
RESPONSIBILITIES/QUALIFICATIONS:
• Manage multiple projects from conceptual to final design and during construction review phases.
• Oversee budgets and schedules, including managing direct reports.
• Coordinate with external agencies for project information and regulatory approvals.
• Independently create layouts, detailed designs, plans, specifications, and estimates for water and wastewater systems.
• Conduct engineering and process design, project coordination, and equipment selection.
• Prepare engineering documents, perform hydraulic calculations, and develop hydraulic profiles.
• Apply current engineering standards and materials in design.
• Lead equipment and supplier selection processes.
• Engage with agencies such as Cities, Counties, TXDOT, USACE, FEMA, and TCEQ for reviews and approvals.
• Ensure quality control and proper documentation per firm protocols.
• Independently perform design procedures, coordinate meetings, and communicate effectively with team members.
• Present solutions to engineering challenges, demonstrating problem-solving skills.
• Work with minimal supervision, interpreting plans and guiding technical staff.
• Obtain PE license within 12 months of hire; upon licensure, seal projects in your technical focus area.
REQUIREMENTS:
• B.S. in Civil Engineering
• E.I.T. or PE license in the U.S., with the ability to obtain Texas license within 12 months if not already licensed in Texas.
• 3+ years of progressive civil engineering experience focused on water and wastewater treatment facilities.
• Detail-oriented with adherence to procedures.
• Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and work independently.
• Strong organizational and communication skills, including technical writing.
• Self-starter and results-oriented mindset.
