Job description

DESCRIPTION:

The Glenbard Wastewater Authority is currently accepting applications for a part-time, entry-level, Plant Laborer position. The purpose of this position is to provide general labor assistance to maintenance and operations crews. Duties include performing various tasks at a wastewater treatment facility both indoors and outdoors. Training with vehicles/equipment and familiarization with department operations will be provided upon hire.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Be self-motivated and be able to work alone on assigned laborious projects such as painting, organizing, hosing of tanks and miscellaneous housekeeping activities.
  • Assists crews with related landscaping activities
  • Performs minor equipment maintenance, including washing, waxing, vacuuming, cleaning and lubricating
  • Performs miscellaneous tasks and assignments, including floor sweeping, window cleaning, site weeding and community special event activities
  • Assist with tasks on wastewater treatment equipment and associated components.
  • Performs minor repairs to lift stations and pump stations
  • Assists crews with related maintenance activities

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

All employees must be at least 18 years of age at the time of application and must possess a high school diploma or equivalent. Candidates must also possess a valid Illinois driver’s license at the time of application.

The duties of this job include physical activities such as stooping, kneeling, standing, reaching, walking, lifting and/or move (up to 100 pounds), grasping, talking, hearing/listening, seeing/observing, and repetitive motions. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close, distance and peripheral vision; depth perception; and the ability to adjust focus. Must be able to work in malodorous, nauseating and dangerous work conditions. Must be able to withstand inclement weather such as snow, cold, rain, heat, humidity, sun, etc.

Work schedule: Monday through Friday; up to twenty (20) hours per week with flexible schedule from 7:30 am to 3:30 pm.

SALARY/BENEFITS:

The starting pay range for this position is $25.42 to $27.00 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience. This is a non-exempt position under FLSA. Paid time off begins accruing on the first day of employment. This position is also eligible for the Village’s wellness program, employee recognition, and Employee Assistance Program (EAP). No additional fringe benefits are provided.
