Job summary

Perko Inc. seeks a Laboratory Technician to monitor wastewater effluent by sampling and analyzing for metals and pH control. You will record results on Waste Water Lab Analysis and ensure compliance across multiple sampling points.

The role requires a Chemistry degree or related field with at least five years of experience, calibration of testing equipment, and accurate data entry. On-site duties include handling 24-hour composite samples and coordinating with supervisors and inspectors.

Qualifications

• Degree in Chemistry or related Sciences, or related position as Lab Technician with a minimum of five years experience in the same field of work.
• Experience calibrating testing equipment and collecting samples for analysis.

Responsibilities

• Clean IWP-00154 and IWP-00075 twenty-four hour composite bottles daily.
• Collect twenty-four hour composite bottles and obtain samples.
• Calibrate all testing equipment before operating.
• Test twenty-four hour samples daily for compliance and record.
• Collect samples hourly from waste treatment systems and test using specified instruments.
• Record all test results on wastewater lab analysis forms.
• Alert supervisor of discrepancies such as out of range limits and rising range limits.
• Resample more frequently if problems occur until resolved.
• Sample and test water from other plant areas as requested.
• Collect, test, and record split samples with outside laboratory and inspectors.
• Report analysis or equipment discrepancies immediately.
• Other duties may be assigned.

Job description

Monitors waste treatment effluent flow by sampling and testing discharge water at various sources for metal analysis and ph control. Records all results on Waste Water Lab Analysis.

Responsibilities

• Clean IWP-00154 and IWP-00075 twenty-four hour composite bottles daily.
• Collect twenty-four hour composite bottles and obtain samples.
• Calibrate all testing equipment before operating.
• Test twenty-four hour samples daily for compliance and record.
• Collect samples once every hour from IWP-00154 and IWP-00075 waste treatment systems, and test using:
• ph meter
• atomic absorption spectrophotometer
• Record all test results on wastewater lab analysis forms.
• Alert the line leader or department manager of any discrepancies such as an out of range limit, and rising range limits.
• Resample more frequently if problems occur until problem is under control.
• Sample and test water from other areas in the plant upon department manager's request.
• Collect, test, and record split samples with outside laboratory and Dade County inspectors when necessary.
• Report any analysis or equipment discrepancies to the department supervisor or the department manager immediately.
• Other duties may be assigned.
